WEATHER: TWO DIFFERENT WEATHER STORIES

The Central Coast and Hunter received some welcome relief today under a thick blanket of cloud, which delivered some cool, light drizzle across the Newcastle suburbs.

For northern NSW there was no such relief, with the sun beating down and the mercury soaring into the high 30s and low 40s across the North West.

The heat will remain and more temperature records will fall as we enter the first week of February.
