EMU FENCE TRIAL PROVING SUCCESSFUL

The RMS says the emu crossings, being trialled on the Woolgoolga to Ballina Pacific Highway upgrade, are working.
The innovative fence was installed in December 2014, on the Glenugie to Tyndale section – where the emus are often sighted.
Video monitoring shows they’re regularly using the designated points to cross the highway safely.
The fence features a squeeze stile, which is large enough for emus to pass through, but too small for cattle.
