P-PLATER ALLEGEDLY INVOLVED IN POLICE PURSUIT NEAR PORT STEPHENS

A P-plate driver will face Raymond Terrace Local Court next month, following an alleged police pursuit in Port Stephens.

Around 9:15pm yesterday, police allege a Ford Falcon was travelling above the 50km/h speed limit on Gan Gan Road, Anna Bay.

A pursuit was initiated after the vehicle failed to stop, but was terminated shortly after, when the car allegedly was being driven at 160km/h in an 80km/h zone.

Subsequent enquiries led police to a home in Pacific Avenue, Anna Bay.

An 18-year-old man was arrested, and he later returned a breath analysis reading of 0.021

He was given a field court notice for police pursuit (Skyes Law), driving with special range PCA, and P2 Licence holder exceeding the speed over 45km/h.

His licence was suspended by police.
