MAN FACES COURT OVER STOLEN CAR AND DOMESTIC VIOLENCE CHARGES

A 38-year-old man faces a string of charges after a pursuit involving a stolen car in Lake Macquarie yesterday.

Police allege a silver Subaru Forester was stolen during a break in at a home in Bolton Point on Thursday.

Police subsequently spotted the vehicle on Main Road, Fennel Bay around 4pm yesterday.

The car failed to stop when requested, and a pursuit ensued.

The pursuit was terminated shortly after due to dangerous driving, before the vehicle was later found abandoned at a shopping centre in Toronto.

A search was initiated, and a man was arrested shortly after near the Toronto CBD.

It’s also been alleged the man had been involved in a previous domestic related incident.

He was charged with 14 offences, including two counts of contravening a domestic AVO, common assault, Skye’s Law (police pursuit), use of an unregistered vehicle, assaulting an officer in execution of duty, and resisting an officer in execution of duty
