INTRUDERS ARMED WITH MACHETE AND HAMMER IN TAMWORTH ROBBERY
Two women are on the run after a couple were injured during a violent robbery at Tamworth.
Around 7pm last night, two women attended an address on Tingira Street, and assaulted a 38-year-old female occupant of the home by punching her to the head.
A 44-year-old male resident came to woman’s assistance.
The offenders were armed with a hammer and a machete. The man then armed himself with a sword and an altercation followed.
During the scuffle, the man suffered a severe laceration to his left hand but he was able to run from the home and seek assistance.
The two offenders took other swords, cash and personal papers from the property before fleeing on foot towards Cole Road.
The man was treated at the scene before being taken to hospital for surgery.
Police are appealing for anyone with information about the incident to contact Crime Stoppers.
