FIRIES MONITOR OLD BAR BUSHFIRE
Cooler temperatures today have been a blessing for local firefighters, who have been battling a contained bushfire in Old Bar for nearly ten days.
The small town was engulfed by smoke late yesterday, as strong westerly winds caused the fire to flare up and jump the road at Mudbishops Point.
“Some of these bigger trees, you know they’re going to smoulder now for the next 3 or 4 days so yeah hopefully we can get some rest for the locals and get these smouldering bits out,” Mid North Coast Rural Fire Service said.
The 70 hectare fire remains under control.
