MAN CHARGED WITH AGGRAVATED ROBBERY AFTER BEING FOUND HIDING UNDER A BED
A 24-year-old man has been charged with aggravated robbery, after being found hiding under a bed in Windale.
A 38-year-old woman was waiting at a bus stop on Newcastle Road in Jesmond at about 11.55am on Saturday night, when a man approached her and allegedly punched her in the face.
The man then allegedly grabbed the woman’s handbag and ran from the scene.
Witnesses to the attack gave chase, but the man allegedly threatened them with a brick.
It’s alleged the accused used the woman’s credit cards to buy goods at shops.
The man was arrested at a house on South Street Windale and later charged with aggravated robbery, threaten injury to person with intent to prevent lawful apprehension, and two counts of dishonestly obtain property by deception.
