Ladder-leaders Belmont has been handed a loss by the Students, on the second day of Round 10, in Newcastle cricket.

There were outright wins for Charlestown and Toronto, Merewether batted out the day to avoid an outright loss.

Waratah was too strong, and so was Wallsend.

Starting the day in a dominant position, the Tigers chased quick runs.

But it came at the expense of wickets. There were plenty of catches in the field.

Despite Wests ripping through the order, they ran out of time – and didn’t get a chance to chase it down.
