A large bushfire at Lake Macquarie has forced the closure of the Sydney to Newcastle rail line.
The fire at Morisset is burning in dense bush between the lake and the M1 Motorway.
No properties are under immediate threat but around 50 people have been evacuated from streets fronting the advancing blaze as a precaution, along with golfers from the nearby Morisset course.
Fire fighting aircraft are being used to attack spot fires which have jumped the railway corridor along with ground crews who are working to contain the fire.
