BALLINA BRIDGE JUMPER RESCUED FROM RIVER
An intoxicated man who jumped off a bridge in Ballina early this morning, had to be rescued from North Creek and treated by paramedics before being taken to Ballina Hospital for observation.
Emergency services were called to Missingham Bridge around 4.30am to reports a 37-year-old had jumped into the water.
He was located about 150m downstream a short time later.
“Pretty luck, it’s a pretty high bridge, there’s signs everywhere saying don’t jump, I believe, whether or not he was in full control of his faculties, but either way it was a good outcome when we got there, we picked him up and brought him back and he’s safe somewhere.”
Anyone who jumps off the bridge risks a $3300 fine.
