UPDATE: 14 SWEPT INTO OCEAN NEAR CRESCENT HEAD

Ten people have been injured, two seriously, after a group of 14 people were washed off rocks by a large wave on the mid-north coast this afternoon.

The group was swimming in the isolated Mermaid rock pool near Crescent Head at around 12:30pm, when the wave washed them into the ocean.

The swimmers were able to get themselves back to shore with the assistance of Emergency Services personnel.

One person suffered a dislocated shoulder while others received cuts and abrasions.

Paramedics treated the injured swimmers, before transporting eight people to Kempsey District Hospital, with two others taken to Port Macquarie Hospital.
