PUSH TO CONTROL DESTRUCTIVE WEED

Landowners in the Macleay Valley are being urged to keep an eye out for the Cockspur Coral Tree, which is currently in flower.
While it might look attractive, it’s a highly destructive weed which multiplies quickly, if not controlled.
“It’s been the last 2 or 3 years, it’s been emerging as an environmental weed or tree within this area, along riverbanks and fence lines in rural areas and in towns,” Kempsey Shire Council Weed Officer Greg Egan said.
Anyone who sees the species on their property should spray it with herbicide as soon as possible.
