HOCKEY TOURNAMENT TO BOOST ECONOMY

The Taree economy will receive a generous boost this weekend, with more than 1,500 visitors in town for the New South Wales Women’s Hockey Masters Tournament.
It’s estimated they’ll spend around $1.1-million on local accommodation and at food outlets and businesses.
This weekend’s tournament is the first of seven major sporting events to come to the region over the next three years.
Taree Council says those events are likely to inject more than $7-million into the local economy.
