SHARPES BEACH GETS SHARK WATCH TOWER

A shark observation tower will be built at a Ballina beach as part of a state government program aimed at protecting beachgoers.

Sharpes Beach is among a list of beaches to receive the state government shark detection funding as part of the Observation Tower Grants Program.

Ballina Council received $43,761.50 for the design and construction.

The observation tower will provide a clear line of vision for lifesavers and lifeguards to spot sharks, swimmers in distress and monitor beach conditions.
