DOMESTIC VIOLENCE INCIDENT LEADS TO FIREARM AND DRUGS CHARGES
A man will face court today after a domestic violence incident on the far north coast last week led police to charge a man with firearm and drug offences.
On Monday this week, police were searching a home in Lennon Circuit, Pottsville, after responding to reports of domestic violence.
Police allege the man involved had already fled the scene when they arrived.
The police search revealed a loaded handgun, methyl amphetamine and cannabis, an SKS semi-automatic assault rifle, and ammunition.
Subsequent investigations led police to a home on Urliup Road at Carool, about 15km south-west of Tweed Heads yesterday.
Just before 4pm, a 42-year-old man surrendered to police and was arrested.
The man was charged with 11 offences including two counts of possessing an unregistered firearm, supplying a prohibited drug, and possessing a prohibited drug.
