WESTPAC HELICOPTER SERVICE ISSUES MESSAGE AFTER BUSY PERIOD
The Hunter’s Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service has been kept busy this holiday period, responding to 10 emergencies since Christmas.
It’s prompted the service to issue this message.
“To look out for one another I think that’s probably the big thing, whether it be around water or driving take your time to do things right and look out for one another”, said Glen Ramplin from the service.
The service will get a big boost next year when its new A-W-1-3-9 helicopter is rolled out, at its new base at Pelican.
“The aircraft behind us is you know 30 years old, we’re going to be operating brand new state of the aircraft. They’ve been built in Italy and they’re just amazing aircraft to operate”.
The new chopper will take off in March… it can reach speeds of 310 kilometres an hour.
