MAN TO FACE NEWCASTLE COURT CHARGED WITH CHRISTMAS DAY SHOOTING
A man will face Newcastle Local Court, charged with firing a shotgun into a vehicle at Cessnock on Christmas Day.
Just before 10pm a Toyota Hilux with four occupants attended a home on Mount View Road.
Police say one of the men, aged 20, got out of the car and went to the front door where he spoke to a woman residing at the property.
A short time later, it’s alleged a 28-year-old man walked from inside the home and fired a single round into the window of the Hilux.
No one was injured.
Last night, police attended Wangi Avenue, Cessnock, where they arrested a 28-year-old man.
He was taken to Maitland Police Station where he was charged with firing a firearm in a manner that is likely to injure person, and possessing a prohibited firearm in a public place.
