MEN REFUSED BAIL OVER BESTIALITY AND ANIMAL CRUELTY CHARGES
Two men facing animal cruelty and bestiality charges have been refused bail, after several chickens were killed and a pig suffered serious injuries at a farm at Nimbin last week.
The men, aged 20 and 22, were arrested at a Tevan Road property and brought into police custody yesterday afternoon.
They appeared in the Lismore Local Court today, both facing charges of bestiality and two counts of animal torture.
Police have described the incident as disturbing.
“Thankfully I’ve never seen anything like this. The police involved are quite shocked by what is alleged and now we’re placing these matters before the court”
Anyone with more information is asked to contact police.
“We need people to come forward. Any bit of information can be kept anonymous but we need people to come forward and assist us with this enquiry.”
