SALVOS SPREAD CHRISTMAS CHEER IN TAMWORTH
Christmas is known as the season of giving and today the festive spirit was alive and well in Tamworth, with more than 100 people turning out for the Salvation Army’s Community Christmas lunch.
“It’s that social capital where people come together over a meal, and these might be people who haven’t had conversations for days and to come and just be able to hear other peoples voices, hear their own voices, there’s a lot of value in that.”
Tamworth’s Meals on Wheels also did its bit to spread the Christmas cheer – providing the food for the free lunch.
“We’ve got an army of volunteers here that have just turned up to serve the meals, so there’s a real sense of people wanting to bless each other this Christmas.”
