A beach near Newcastle has been closed this morning, following a confirmed sighting of a great white shark.
Redhead Beach was closed by Lake Macquarie lifeguards after a surveillance drone found the three-metre shark swimming near surfers.
The beach may reopen later, if an aerial search confirms the creature has moved on.
