A 21-year-old man has been charged after police allegedly found a loaded shotgun in his backpack at Belmont.
Police say they tried to speak with the man along Hill Street yesterday afternoon, when he attempted to run away.
He then allegedly assaulted two officers during his arrest before police searched his backpack.
It’s alleged they found a loaded shotgun, an air rifle, firearm parts, a knife and drugs.
He was charged with several offences and is due to face Belmont Local Court today.
