SHOTGUN AIMED AT POLICE IN MID-NORTH COAST PURSUIT

A man is on the run after evading police and pointing a shotgun at them during a pursuit near Coffs Harbour this morning.

Just before 8am, police stopped a white Toyota Hiace van on the Pacific Highway at North Macksville for a random breath test.

The driver sped away during the stop, and a pursuit was initiated.

Police allege the driver of the van pointed a shotgun at police during the pursuit.

A road block was subsequently established near Valla, about 35km south of Coffs Harbour

The driver again allegedly aimed the shotgun at police as he approached the roadblock, before driving into bushland.

No police were injured during the pursuit.

A perimeter was established, but the driver of the van was unable to be located.

Police are searching for a man described as being Caucasian, about 183cm tall with short cropped hair and an unshaven appearance.
