STRIKE FORCE BENNI LEADS TO FURTHER CHARGES
Police have charged another three people over a string of armed robberies at service stations in the Hunter Region from June and July this year.
Strike Force Benni was established to investigate armed robberies at service stations in Muswellbrook, Maitland, Raymond Terrace, Heatherbrae and Islington.
A search warrant was executed at a home on Mallee Street at Gateshead this week.
An 18-year-old man was charged with three counts of robbery armed with an offensive weapon, and attempted robbery armed with an offensive weapon.
Another 18-year-old man was arrested at a home on Teak Street, Gateshead. He was charged with two counts of robbery armed with an offensive weapon, and attempted robbery armed with an offensive weapon.
Another 64-year-old woman was arrested at a home on Tathra St, Raymond Terrace. She was charged with a number of offences including robbery armed with an offensive weapon, and accessory after the fact to robbery armed with an offensive weapon.
All three are due to appear in court later this month or early next year.
Police have already charged three men in connection with Strike Force Benni.
