SHARK DETERRENT SENATE INQUIRY LAUNCHED
Tasmanian Greens senator Peter Whish-Wilson has launched a federal inquiry, into the effectiveness and regulation of shark mitigation measures used across Australia.
It comes after the Turnbull Government approved the use of mesh nets off the Far North Coast – bypassing environmental protection legislation.
The inquiry will examine the pros and cons of current and emerging measures, as well as the impact of attacks on tourism.
Submissions can be lodged online until March next year.
