Workers were forced to evacuate, when a chemical leak shut down a chicken processing plant near Newcastle this afternoon.
Firefighters were called to reports of an ammonia spill at the Beresfield Baiada factory around lunchtime.
One person was taken to hospital, while five others were treated by paramedics at the scene.
The emergency comes nine months after chlorine fumes at the plant saw 26 people hospitalised.
