LOCK THE GATE ALLIANCE SLAMS AQUIFER DRAFT POLICY

Lock the Gate Alliance has lashed out at the State Government over its draft Aquifer Interference Policy.
Under the document, certain large scale coal seam gas developments would be exempt from obtaining aquifer interference approvals.
Campaigners fear it could result in large scale drilling and see coal seam gas waste water released into rivers.
“I think that people will start taking action soon people are seeing through the fact that our state government is not standing up and I local National party members are just junior partners in a government they don’t make the decisions.”
The proposal was leaked by the Opposition – the O’Farrell Government says it’s been consulting with stakeholders for more than a year.
