TAREE ESSENTIAL ENERGY WORKERS DISCUSS NEXT STEPS

Essential Energy employees at Taree have met to discuss their next move, after the National Party ruled out an intervention to save jobs.

Last week the Fair Work Commission gave the energy giant permission to sack 600 regional workers by mid-2018.

Workers are urging Member for Myall Lakes Stephen Bromhead and the Deputy Premier to protect their communities.

“In the lead up to the last election they actually visited depots and ensured those guys, committed to them that there would be no job cuts, now’s the time for them to step up to the plate and show us that they can actually stop that happening,” ETU Organiser, Justin Page said.

Mr Bromhead says he’s happy to discuss the cuts with his National Party colleagues.
