An elderly man has died, after his car slammed into a power pole on Ocean Drive near Lake Cathie this morning.
The crash happened shortly before 10 o’clock, with an off-duty police officer and doctor rushing to help the 84-year-old driver.
Despite their best efforts, the Port Macquarie man died in hospital.
Police are investigating the cause of the crash, which temporarily cut power to around 3,000 properties in Lake Cathie and Bonny Hills.
