It’s been revealed, the Tamworth region has some of the fattest adults in the state, with more than half either overweight or obese.
A national health report, released today, puts obesity rates in the North West at an all-time high.
Tamworth dietitian, Chris Jarrett, says there have been discrepancies between our urban counterparts for decades.
“Quite rightly, these statistics have been looking along those lines for a number of years, since the mid 80s we’ve seen a dramatic rise in the obesity rates in Australia across both rural and urban centres.”
And the news isn’t good for other areas, with more than half of adults in Narrabri, Armidale and the Gwydir Shire also classified either overweight or obese.
