NOTHING PUT TO WASTE IN BATTLE AGAINST DRUGS
Tamworth Regional Council has endorsed a proposal to join the National Wastewater Drug Monitoring Pilot Program to start next month.
Funded by the Australian Criminal Intelligence Commission, the trial project will see council take daily samples of wastewater for one week every four months over a twelve month period.
The project aims to provide data about the presence of illicit drugs, including methamphetamine.
Tamworth joins every capital city in Australia, plus 30 regional and urban locations, in the trial.
