WEAPONS CHARGES LAID ON THE GOLD COAST
Two men have been charged with weapon offences after they allegedly threatened a third man on the Gold Coast.
Shortly before 10pm last night, police responded to reports of a disturbance at an address on Salamau Drive in Runaway Bay.
Police allege two men, armed with a baseball bat and a rifle, attended the address and threatened a 35-year-old male resident.
The two assailants fled in a vehicle, but police were able to track them from helicopter.
Police subsequently descended on an address on Marina Quays Boulevard in Hope Island where the two men – both aged 33 – were arrested, allegedly in possession of firearms and other weapons.
The pair have been charged with two counts each of unlawful possession of weapons.
It is believed the men were known to each other.
