DRUG AND ALCOHOL OFFENCES TARGETED AT SCHOOLIES
Police have generally praised the behaviour of students at schoolies celebrations, despite a consistent number of arrests over the weekend.
Last night, police arrested 11 schoolies on 17 offences, with eight of the offences being for drug possession. Seven schoolies were issued with liquor infringement notices.
A further 23 non-schoolies were arrested on 29 charges, with the majority of arrests relating to public nuisance and drug possession.
Drug detection dogs will be used throughout schoolies celebrations, and police want school leavers to act responsibly, stay safe and watch their mates.
