PRICE GROWTH MAY BE PUSHING HOUSING PRICES OUT OF REACH
Despite record low interest rates, rapid growth in house prices is pushing home ownership further out of reach of the Hunter’s first-home buyers, according to the Hunter Research Foundation.
The average house price in the Hunter is now more than $450,000.
Business optimism and consumer confidence is slowly improving but remains cautious against a backdrop of stagnant wage growth.
Growth in regional tourism was highlighted as a bright spot at the foundation’s economic indicators breakfast this morning.
