HMAS NEWCASTLE IN HARBOUR AS PART OF AIR-SEA EXERCISE

HMAS Newcastle is on a quick stop-over in her namesake port during a large air-sea exercise taking place off the coast.

The ship received a salute from Fort Scratchley as it entered port this afternoon.

Just last week, Newcastle played a role in a major operation intercepting a vessel, allegedly smuggling drugs off Queensland.

HMAS Newcastle won’t be open to the public on this visit and re-joins other Navy ships and RAAF aircraft taking part in Exercise Ocean Raider on Monday.
