POLICE MANHUNT OVER SICKENING ATTACK ON PELICANS
The RSPCA is investigating a shocking case of animal cruelty, after two pelicans were found badly mutilated on the Central Coast.
The animals were discovered with their beaks badly smashed at The Entrance.
“While we are not sure if this has been caused by a malicious attack or unfortunate natural circumstances at this point, it does look very suspicious,” said RSPCA NSW Central Coast Inspector Graeme Dymond.
“It’s sickening to see gruesome injuries like these inflicted on such beautiful birds.”
The pelicans were rushed to a local vet, but couldn’t be saved.
Police have since joined the investigation, in a bid to track down those responsible, and are asking anyone who has seen suspicious behaviour at the Picnic Point Boat Ramp to come forward.
If convicted, perpetrators could face up to five years in jail.
