- There’s been dramatic police raids at two houses in the Hunter Valley. Heavily armed police stormed a house at Gillieston Heights, forcing a man onto the front lawn and cuffing him. An armoured van and the dog squad were at the scene at the corner of Thomas and Cartwright Streets Gillieston Heights. A house at Rutherford was raided as well.
- A man found shot dead on a quiet suburban street in Sydney was a member of the Australian branch of the Calabrian mafia. Police say Pasquale Barbaro’s death was a targeted attack.
- John Barilaro has been elected as the new leader of the New South Wales Nationals and will become the state’s deputy premier, following the resignation of his predecessor Troy Grant yesterday.
- And aftershocks and evacuations are continuing in New Zealand after yesterday’s deadly earthquake on the south island.
