WOMAN RESCUED FROM BURNING HOUSE

A 63-year-old woman has been airlifted to a Sydney hospital after being found inside a burning house in Lake Macquarie overnight.
It’s believed an 18-year-old man had tried to enter the property on Karog Street Pelican and was overcome by smoke, before emergency services arrived at about 11.20pm.
The woman was found unconscious and suffering burns inside the home and was treated by paramedics, before being taken to John Hunter Hospital and airlifted to Royal North Shore Hospital.
She is in a serious but stable condition.
The male teen was also treated for smoke inhalation.
A crime scene has been established at the property, the cause of the fire is yet to be determined.
