HUNTER HOUSING APPROVALS HIT 8 YEAR HIGH

Residential building approvals in the Hunter have hit an eight-year high, with more than five-and-a-half thousand given the green light in the year to September 2016.

The demand for apartment living has seen the number of new multi-storey developments jump over the same period.

Industry group, HIA has put the spike down to growing confidence thanks to record-low interest rates and stability in the region’s mining sector.
