BELMONT TAKE TOP SPOT AFTER CRUISING TO VICTORY OVER CARDIFF
It was nearly a complete wash out in Newcastle District with Belmont and Cardiff-Boolroo’s match at number 1 sportsground the only fixture going ahead.
An easy win to Belmont sees them take top spot on the ladder.
Belmont was intent on cleaning up the Cardiff tail and Jesse Major was the man for the job.
He coaxed Matt Willett out out his crease with Daniel Bailey knocking the bails off.
Only a few balls later, that man Major, had another when Arthur Hudson slashed one to Alex Cook at backward point.
The very next ball, Liam McMahon lofted one off his hip, Jesse Major sending Cardiff back to the pavillion.
A slow outfield meant the run chase was always going to be difficult, and when Matt Willett found the edge of Greg Hunt’s bat, Cardiff’s modest total appeared difficult to reach.
But even with players on rep duty, Belmont cruised to victory.
