TAMWORTH GOES TROPICAL FOR CHARITY BOWLS DAY
Grass skirts and hawaiian shirts were the dress code in Tamworth today with more than 100 people taking to the bowling greens in the name of charity.
The tropical themed bowls day was raising money for Tamworth’s Riding For the Disabled.
It’s the organisation’s biggest annual fundraiser and this year more than 20 teams registered for the event.
“This is the 21st year that we’ve run it. Last year we were very lucky to raise $14, 000 – and hopefully we can either match that or go better this year.
And they’re well on the way – with 20 local businesses pitching in to raise more than $6000 before the event kicked off.
“All the money goes to that charity, no money goes anywhere else and they use it to improve their facilities on Marius Street where they’re based at. And I think it is the main reason, because it is a local charity helping local people.”
