BASKETBALL SEASIDE CLASSIC UNDERWAY IN THE HASTINGS

Mid North Coast teams are off to a strong start at one of the state’s largest odd age basketball carnivals in Port Macquarie.

In day one of the Seaside Classic, the under 13’s girls’ side – the Taree Tornadoes thrashed Tamworth 54 points to 14.

The Bellingen side came out on top 39 to 6 against the Newcastle Lakers.

In the under 11’s girls’ division, the Coffs Harbour Suns took out a tight win against Taree, 25 to 19.

And the Port Dolphins triumphed over Tamworth 35 to 20.

“Basically the general tournaments for Basketball NSW runs even age, but this gives the young odd aged kids the ability to attain some dreams I suppose.”

A record 74 teams from across the state are competing in this year’s event.
