It didn’t come without controversy but Newcastle finally has a Rainbow Walk, which was officially opened at Islington Park today.
According to the city council the 25-metre-strip acknowledges the area’s association with the lesbian, gay, bi-sexual, trans-gender, intersex and queer community.
Lord Mayor Nuatali Nelmes said the walk signifies an inclusive city that embraces diversity.
