SHENHUA DENIES IT’S STALLING WATERMARK PROJECT

Chinese mining giant Shenhua has dismissed claims its Watermark coal mine project planned for the Liverpool Plains is ‘stalling’ and ‘unlikely’ to go ahead, following reports in the media yesterday.
The company’s exploration license expires on Monday, but it’s submitted a renewal application, which is being reviewed.
Project Manager Paul Jackson says it’s also waiting on the outcome of a Land and Environment Court matter, before spending $200- million on a mining license.
