POLICE BELIEVE SCRUB FIRES IN NORTHERN NSW MAY BE DELIBERATELY LIT
Police believe a number of scrub fires in far north NSW may have started in suspicious circumstances, and are now seeking public assistance for more information about how they began.
Police and the RFS responded to reports of a number of scrub fires in the Clothiers Creek Road area at Cabarita, and at Salt Village, throughout Saturday afternoon.
Clothiers Creek Road was closed after one of the blazes escalated to a bushfire which threatened a number of homes.
It follows a number of other small fires in the region in recent weeks.
Police are now appealing for public assistance in relation to the fires.
In particular, detectives would like to speak to a man described as being in his 60s who was seen sitting in a silver two-door Peugeot hatchback parked on Clothiers Creek Road about 3.15pm yesterday.
