DEFECT NOTICES ISSUED AND LICENCES SUSPENDED DURING OPERATION WRECK
Police have issued 21 defect notices in an operation targeting hoon activity in northern NSW over the past two days.
Operation Wreck was conducted on Friday and Saturday in Moree as a joint operation between the Highway Patrol and Roads and Maritime Services.
Officers inspected 24 vehicles and issued 21 defect notices to the owners.
Police also conducted random drug testing during the operation. Eight positive drug tests were returned, including an interstate truck driver who allegedly returned a positive reading for methamphetamine.
A further 30 traffic infringement notices were issued, and three licences were suspended.
Police say similar operations will continue to ensure all vehicles are safe, roadworthy and driven in a manner that does not pose a risk to road users.
