A 51-year-old man is in a critical condition after being run over by a six-tonne tractor in Terragon, south west of Murwillumbah, last night.
The Westpac Life Saver Rescue Helicopter was tasked to a remote property just before 7.
Due to rugged terrain, crews had to winch down the medical team for emergency treatment before using a stretcher and night vision goggles to lift him out.
“He was very unwell. He had multi-system trauma, so head, chest, abdomen and pelvis were involved, so we had a lot of competing priorities to deal with.”
The man was flown to the Gold Coast University Hospital for further treatment.
