PARLIMENTARY INQUIRY FOR CESSNOCK BATS

The Hunter’s battle against flying foxes continues with the federal government agreeing to conduct a parliamentary inquiry into the matter.

Hunter Labor MP Joel Fitzgibbon says the inquiry will examine the ‘endangered’ status of the bats, how they became listed and whether it’s still scientifically sound.

He’s also asked the committee to investigate the discrepancies between state and federal status listings.
