- Tributes are flowing in for four people killed an horrific freak accident at Dreamworld on the Gold Coast. Kate Goodchild, her brother Luke Dorsett, his partner Roozi Araghi and a New Zealand woman were killed when one of the rafts on the Thunder River Rapids ride – overturned on a conveyer belt yesterday afternoon. A 10 and 13-year-old, who were also on the ride – miraculously survived. There is a heavy police presence at Dreamworld today, the park will remain closed indefinitely.
- A Melbourne jeweller has shied away from being called a hero, after he bravely chased away armed offenders who raided his store at gunpoint.
- Hawaii’s John John Florence has been crowned the 2016 surfing world champion, after taking out the Rip Curl Pro in Portugal.
- And a Russian base jumper has thrown caution – and himself – to the wind, leaping into thin air from the sixth highest peak in the world.
