The Greens have introduced a new bill into New South Wales Parliament calling for a ban on all new coal mine development.
The proposed bill would prohibit the approval of any new coal mines or coal mine expansions across the state.
The bill coincides with the deadline date for the controversial Shenhua Watermark project.
Today is the final day marked in the company’s original exploration licence for the Liverpool Plains region.
If revoked by the state government, the proposed coal mine would not go ahead.
