NEWCASTLE EDUCATOR IN LINE FOR SENIOR AUSTRALIAN OF THE YEAR
Dudley-based science educator, Dr Jeanette Dixon, says she’s ‘over the moon’ to be named a finalist for the New South Wales Senior Australian of the Year Award.
“I can’t even express just how honoured, amazed and privileged I feel,” she said.
The self-confessed space tragic is a lecturer at the University of Newcastle, and has 50 years’ experience teaching in schools.
She’s also known for her series of children’s books, based on Aussie astronaut Andy Thomas.
“Just their smiles, their enjoyment, their appreciation. They’re my rewards and they’re all I’ve ever asked for.”
